The soil microbiome modulates the sorghum root metabolome and cellular traits with a concomitant reduction of Striga infection
Last March, an article reflecting the outcomes of our work in Promise was published. In this piece, our project researchers explored the role of the soil microbiome in hindering the Striga effects in sorghum. Along with the research, they identified some bacterial strains that suppress the infection of Striga by reducing the haustorium formation. These findings are crucial steps towards developing solutions against the devastating effect of Striga in Sub-Saharan Africa.
